Hi All,
I figured it would be interesting to hear of everyone’s fantasy wrestling path that led them to Filsinger Wrestling.
Back in the late 1980’s and early 90’s I was a proud member of the Imaginary Wrestling Association, aka the IWA. It is a play by mail game, that still exists to this day.
Then, for most of the 90’s I was involved in independent pro wrestling. I was blessed to have been trained by Killer Kowalski and have worked with many great talents that came through the area. That is a different story, for a different day. Related to that however, I do plan to create a bootleg card of myself to use in the Filsinger universe. I might ask for help with that on these forums.
For the majority of the 2000’s I was one of the founders and owners of an online fantasy wrestling game named Shootclub, or the Shootclub Wrestling Alliance. After running that for roughly a decade we closed our doors.
That is it in kind of a nutshell. Of course there is more to it than that, but I want to try and keep this post brief.
Even though I don’t follow wrestling as closely as I once did, it will always be one of my loves. That is why when my friend, and pro wrestler Isys Ephex told me about this game, and most importantly that bootleg cards of my favorite wrestler existed, I looked into the game further. Then, by a stroke of great luck I met Jerod on the official Filsinger message boards.
So here I am today, enjoying the creative process, and very slowly learning about Filsinger Wrestling.
Feel free to share your story here.
Best, John

The spike ad in a PWI mag got me interested. My buddy ordered the game, & I nagged him u til he sold/traded it to me. I also was in the IWA. It was a lot of fun.

The filsinger world is actually my first real venture into fantasy wrestling (I wrote a little bit of fantasy booking stuff on a message board years ago) But with all the great original stuff plus bootleg wrestlers and charts, this opens endless possibilities.

I was reading about the game for years but always thought getting it shipped to England would be expensive and perhaps not worth the money. Eventually I started purchasing everything I could in 2015. I only play Legends but have a lot of the indy sets, which I will probably now sell.
My favourite period of wrestling is the eaerly 80s and I love Mid South, South Eastern/Continental and I'm a bt obessed with WWF enhancement talent!

Like a lot of others, Spike ads. I got back in after seeing Metalhead and Thunder.

I do love me WWWF Jobbers as well I was always a big sports gamer (Statis Pro, Strat etc) and a good wrestling game was always a "must" for me.. It was the old PWI adds that drew me in.....and the desire for a good wrestling game...…… Once LOW came around it was easy to mostly leave COTG behind (although im enjoying the old sets being colorized) …… Its the ability to relive those memories of Late 70's Saturday mornings and trip to see Backlund defend in The Boston Garden. I never did the PBM games..... but I tried all the others (Superstars, Wrasslin, and Face to the Mat) until LOW came around...and I have never looked back

So, I had watched the ads in PWI for several years, but it was when i got home from boot camp and my MOS schooling that i finally had the funds to order... I believe i picked up the first 4 editions and was hooked instantly, followed all the way til around the 5th or 6th CPC set (it was around the time Jack of Diamonds was having all his "real life" drama)... I had also JUST ordered the inaugural LOW set and then life happened and I wasn't able to play/keep up for several years... when i came back I discovered LOW was about 6 sets in and I decided to catch up (I saw they had Brody and knew that I HAD to check it all out)... I left the GWF side of things behind and followed LOW (and into LOTF then the Indy stuff)... became an avid bootlegger and have been recapturing my youth with the color re-releases of the old GWF!!
