DATE: May 10, 2022 through to July 1
LOCATION: A kitchen table at a small house on Briarwood Drive in Rochester, NY.
PRESENT: A wrestling fan with more money than sense(?) and some of his friends.
On this day, James Irish recruited long time friends Justin Toner, Linwood Knight and Krissi Harding to help get the other half of the way to running his first independent wrestling card. James had managed to book some big names for a few dates in the Central-to-Western NY area, get venues all set up, and even had some lovely belts commissioned, leaving him with a shoestring budget for… everything else. Fortunately, his friends are there to help run things both on stage and backstage, giving him a chance to actually turn a profit and maybe turn this into something more than a lark from someone who could be doomed to be branded a money mark. It’s go big or go home for this guy!
It also helps that said friends are a retired wrestler (Justin Toner used to perform under the name Torment in several North-East independent promotions), the manager of a popular wrestling news site (Linwood Knight runs Wrestling News & Views) and a freshly licensed referee (Krissi Harding was trained by none other than Aubrey Edwards), all of whom have plenty of contacts to draw upon. Bringing them on as head of talent relations, lead announcer and head referee, respectively, at least gives the company something resembling a framework. With roughly two months to prepare, promote and sell tickets for their first show, the pressure is on for…

Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 4 Match 1:
“Mr. Athletic” JEFF COBB vs SUPER NOVA
MAIN EVENT Exhibition Match:
NICK BOCKWINKLE w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan vs “Hacksaw” JIM DUGGAN
(The overall concept I'm looking to create is to take a small federation with very little clout or resources beyond the cash used to hire the big name talents, and have it slowly but surely grow into a multi-state powerhouse. The venues in these first few chapters will mostly be tiny rec centers, multi-use facilities and the occasional armory for the bigger shows, and an injury might be more catastrophic for long term plans. Each chapter will be a specific frame of time, with this first one being the very first six cards building up to the crowning of the first champions. Expect feuds as I come up with them, other regional feds in the background, and occasionally my very weird sense of humor. Results for the first card will go up in just a few hours, and the roster post will be up shortly!)

(The camera pans around the small but sold out crowd at Village Sports’ multipurpose area, directly across from their bar and lounge. Company owner James Irish is serving as ring announcer, while Linwood Knight sits alone, for now, in the commentary position near the entrance.)
LINWOOD KNIGHT: Hello, Independent Wrestling TV viewers! Welcome to our inaugural card, where we have some of your favorite wrestling stars from all across the country, but we’re opening with one of my favorite talents to come from Japan in quite some time! I get the feeling if his opponent leaves any reddish stains on the ring, it won’t be strawberry milk despite his nickname. Let’s go to the match!
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 1: “The Stone Pitbull” TOMOHIRO ISHII vs JAKE “The Milkman” MILLIMAN
A surprisingly game Jake Milliman actually gets some offense in, most of which Ishii absorbs and just roars for more. It comes to an end when the Stone Pitbull meets the Milkman on the turnbuckle to counter a diving attack into a super-plex, and then lands the Brainbuster at about 5:23
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 2: “Limitless” KEITH LEE vs BIG BULLY BUSICK w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
Keith Lee absorbs some blows from Heenan's heater, but manages to get the better of a clothesline attempt and turns it into a Spirit Bomb! It might have been 3 if the Weasel didn't grab the ref's leg. The Bully gouges Keith's eye to escape a bear hug, and begins to throw his weight around. Once they get into the turnbuckles, the reversals are surprisingly quick until Keith hits Grizzly Magnum. Keith begins to reassert himself around the 6:00 mark, but Heenan trips Lee up! Busick regains some advantage as they trade tackles, haymakers and various submissions, and the former even manages three attempts at pinning or submitting Keith Lee, but his resilience is Limitless. At 13:07, Lee finally lands the Spirit Bomb, and an apoplectic Heenan can only watch as the three count is made.
Ontario Tag Team Championship Round Robin Tournament: THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & “Jumping” JIM BRUNZELL) vs WAR MACHINE (HANSON & ROWE)
Realizing the weight difference with Hanson starting the match, the Bees quickly go for a double elbow smash, and Blair follows up with a flurry of offense on the larger man, trying to pin him fast but to no avail. Rowe has to break a count at one point, until Hanson can make the tag. And with that, Rowe demonstrates his power and cuts off Blair for long enough for Hanson to recover for them to hit the War Machine at 4:49, and Brunzell can't make the save.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 3: BRUISER BRODY vs D’LO BROWN
Bruiser is in no mood to play around, launching D'Lo into the ropes and leveling him with an elbow. He tosses the Chicago native like a rag doll out of the ring, only for Brown to come back with a chair! D'Lo sends him back into the ring, hits Sky High, and tries for a flying body press off the top only to be met by the Bruiser's boot! Brody hits his patented jumping knee drop, and it's lights out for D'Lo.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 4: “Mr. Athletic” JEFF COBB vs SUPER NOVA
Right out the gate, Nova goes for a clothesline only for a very aware Cobb to duck it and slap on an Athletic-Plex! Nova perseveres a few large moves, manages a few counters, but when he takes the Tour of the Islands, he's in dreamland. Cobb looks into the camera and grunts out "Ha! Faster than you, Brody!"
MAIN EVENT Exhibition Match: NICK BOCKWINKLE w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan vs “Hacksaw” JIM DUGGAN
Hacksaw opens with his traditional "USA! USA!" chant, which leads to Bockwinkle rolling out of the ring, grabbing the mic from the ring announcer's position, and giving Duggan and the crowd an ear full: "Where precisely do you think I'm from, Duggan? The Dominican Republic? Turkey, perhaps? Papa New Guinea?!? Let me beat some sense into you, you maladjusted, ignoramus!" And from there it's all Bockwinkle, leading into very few hope spots for Duggan before the Bockwinkle Sleeper puts him away. Heenan and Bockwinkle gloat, soaking in the boos, and Big Bully Busick comes in to beat up the prone Hacksaw, before Keith Lee clears house with a chair, rescuing the man from Glens Falls.

The first card in Fairport was a rock-solid success, selling out every seat they had, doing good business for Village Sports’ concessions bar and the talent being mostly happy. (Is Bruiser Brody ever REALLY happy??) Word of mouth was starting to build around this fledgling promotion, especially with Linwood’s role as a commentator drawing interest on Independent Wrestling TV from his readers on Wrestling News & Views, which was a good thing going into a new venue in a new city, the JFK Recreation Center in Buffalo. This card would be debuts for just about the rest of the signed roster at this point, but also featuring a main event featuring some standouts from the first tournament matches in a special exhibition match. Some travel issues with Colt Cabana reared their ugly head, and some food trucks had to be brought in to provide food and drink, but other than that it seemed to be smooth sailing towards…

A solid crowd at the JFK Rec Center is cheering as a sharply-dressed Linwood Knight stands in the ring ready to address the crowd.
LINWOOD KNIGHT: Good evening, wrestling fans young and old! Tonight I'm here to address the situation with Colt Cabana's travel from Chicago here to Buffalo. We all know there have been multitudes of flight cancel-
Linwood can't even finish that sentence before a sound-alike of Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers" interrupts him, heralding the arrival of a pissed off Shane Douglas. He enters the ring and snatches the mic right out of Linwood's hands.
SHANE DOUGLAS: Cut the crap, you wanna-be Dave Meltzer! Go back to hiding behind your computer screen assigning star ratings to Japanese wrestlers nobody cares about!! As if it wasn't bad enough that the original Franchise Player has to jerk the curtain in this glorified mud show for a bunch of people destined to die of heart attacks from eating too many hot wings, my opponent can't even be professional enough to be here in person! He probably just collected a paycheck from the idiot running this show and is using it to buy a fancy new microphone for his precious podcasts! Colt Canaba, you better stick to lurking in your apartment listening to old never-weres tell rambling stories about selling glossies for the kind of beer-bellied hacks I helped replace, or else I'll-
What's good for the goose is good for the gander, as Colt Cabana's music interrupts Shane's ranting, and the beloved Chicago native arrives, in his street clothes, still holding his carry-on luggage from his flight.
LINWOOD KNIGHT: *from the commentary desk* What I was about to say is Colt was in an Uber on his way here this very moment, but it looks like he heard Shane Douglas and decided to heck with preparing! There's the bell, and let's get this show going!
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 1: “The Franchise” SHANE DOUGLAS vs COLT CABANA
Colt slides into the ring, and lariat's the mic out of Shane's hands, which referee Krissi Harding quickly slides to the ring announcer's position. Colt runs wild, but a headscissors attempt is thwarted by the wily Franchise. Shane batters Colt in and out of the ring for the better part of four minutes, surviving multiple suplexes and pin attempts, only getting a hope spot in by ducking a clothesline and smashing a quick Bionic Elbow onto Shane's head. Despite his best efforts, Shane keeps finding ways to get control back, and a final Belly to Belly Suplex shuts his probably travel weary opponent down for the three count.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 2: KYLE O’REILLY vs TIGER CONWAY JR
This match is all Kyle, all the time. When a Triangle Choke doesn't make Tiger Jr. submit, Armageddon puts him away for sure.
Ontario Tag Team Championship Round Robin Tournament: THE DREAM TEAM (BRUTUS BEEFCAKE & GREG “The Hammer” VALENTINE w/”Luscious” Johnny V) vs HURT TRUST, LLC (CEDRIC ALEXANDER & SHELTON BENJAMIN)
Valentine and Beefcake keep Shelton cut off almost from the word "go," and all Cedric can do is try and break up pinfalls. It takes a desperate clothesline from the corner for Shelton to finally mount a proper offence and finally tag in Cedric. He gives Brutus a flurry of quick offense, even hitting a solid Hurt Trust Connection double team with Shelton for a 2.8 count. Valentine can't get the blind tag as Shelton takes back over. Johnny V has to distract after a NASTY Top Rope German Suplex, but the Paydirt is too much for Beefcake to kick out of.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 3: BARON VON RASCHKE vs “Hacksaw” JIM DUGGAN
This time the USA chant makes so much more sense, and Duggan tries to get in and get a Vertical Suplex on the Baron as he glowers at the crowd. The veteran from Germany is too quick, countering it into a Backbreaker Drop. Offense and counters are traded almost evenly, but the Baron keeps his focus on Duggan's back, hurting him enough for a three count.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 4: NICK BOCKWINKLE w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan vs JOHNNY RODZ
Bockwinkle makes the early mistake of underestimating Rodz, getting forearm smash countered with a toss to the turnbuckle and then a clothesline from Rodz. The journeyman gives it his all, but Bockwinkle outclasses him in every category, putting Rodz to sleep with the Bockwinkle Sleeper.
MAIN EVENT Exhibition Match: “Limitless” KEITH LEE & D’LO BROWN vs “The Stone Pitbull” TOMOHIRO ISHII & “Mr. Athletic” JEFF COBB
As the bell rings, Bruiser Brody is spotted watching from the audience. Bobby Heenan takes a seat at the commentary booth following his charge's match, as well. D'Lo slips out of a Delayed Suplex to hit Sudden Impact on Mr. Athletic. Lee takes over for a bit, then D'Lo sends Cobb out of the ring for a brawl. A brawl where Cobb gets the upper hand and sends D'Lo back in for a Tour of the Islands and a 2 count. Ishii tags in and after asserting himself, he Brainbuster's D'Lo outside the ring! Keith has to help revive his partner and get him back in before the 10 count. Ishii sends him out of the ring again, and a desperate D'Lo drop toe holds him onto the steps! D'Lo hits chops and clotheslines, all of which Ishii just absorbs, shouts for more, and even throws a couple back before D'Lo manages an arm drag and tags Keith Lee back in. Lee expresses his power, which Ishii barely escapes after a punishing two minutes to bring Cobb back into the match. And as these two mighty men duke it out, Keith Lee eventually lands Ground Zero. Ishii tries to break up the pin, but D'Lo intercepts him, and the ref counts to three!
Keith Lee's victory celebration is cut short as Heenan calls down Bockwinkle and Big Bully Busick for a sneak attack on Lee and D'Lo, but Tomohiro Ishii comes to the aid of his opponents as a massive brawl breaks out. Jeff Cobb is the one to finally get the Bully out of the ring once he recovers, while Lee and Bockwinkle fight to an effective stand still before the latter decides the numbers are too great and bails. We close with Bruiser Brody still watching the ring like a hawk, his eyes deadlocked on Jeff Cobb.
(As I was contemplating what kind of replacement to do for Colt in light of his card not having come in the mail, I got my delivery from him this very afternoon, inspiring the little fun in the opening segment. Hope you enjoyed this write-up!)

The Buffalo show was an unqualified success, thanks in no small part to the tag team main event featuring a quartet of genuine international stars at their finest. Buys on IWTV are slowly but surely increasing, giving the firm the residuals to bring on another minor name performer, Lance Cassidy, to keep the matches reasonably fresh. The next show is on a college campus, specifically SUNY Fredonia, home of the Blue Devils and the place James Irish and Justin “Torment” Toner met and bonded over their shared love of pro wrestling. Given their status as alumni, they were able to get a larger room than they previously had, but the very progressive school had a quite reasonable request in return: represent women on the card. The team goes to the rolodex and, thanks to a quick bank loan, they’re able to come up with a well-loved talent from Japan to take on an independent wrestler James met on the comic convention circuit. With that, the stage is set for…

A near sell-out of both wrestling savvy college kids and rowdies looking for inexpensive entertainment in the tiny town of Fredonia is on hand for the third ever card from the Greater Ontario Wrestling Conference!
LANCE CASSIDY vs BIG BULLY BUSICK w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan It starts innocently enough with the Bully calling for a test of strength, which he gets the better part of until Lance slips out and sends his foe to the turnbuckle, only for Busick to kick him in the bread basket before Lance can hit his follow up. The Bully can't keep the smaller man in his clutches for extended periods of time, and Lance moves fast but keeps getting stopped by Busick's brawling blows. The Bully Blaster is too much for the smaller Cassidy after a decent 6 minute match, and the Brain is very pleased with his charge's work.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 1: “The Stone Pitbull” TOMOHIRO ISHII vs "The Franchise" SHANE DOUGLAS
Shane wants to see what this Strong Style stuff is all about by giving Ishii an open shot, and after some hesitation Tomohiro tries a chop only for the Franchise to shoot him to the furthest turnbuckle. It's deja vu all over again as Ishii launches out of the turnbuckle to clothesline Shane to the mat. Douglas takes as good as he gives, trading suplexes with the Stone Pitbull. Shane eventually hits the Pittsburgh Plunge, and the fan favorite from Kawasaki is heartbreakingly eliminated from the tournament.
Pre-Recorded Interview with JEFF COBB
We turn now to a sit down interview recorded earlier in the week with "Mr Athletic" himself, Jeff Cobb, conducted by our lead commentator, Linwood Knight.
Linwood: Jeff, first of all thank you for your time. You've been performing at as high a level as ever here in the Greater Ontario Wrestling Conference, but I can't help but notice you've got a bit of a bee in your proverbial bonnet when it comes to Bruiser Brody.
Jeff Cobb: That obvious, huh?
Linwood: You have called him out at our inaugural card, and at events in your native Hawaii.
Jeff Cobb: Well, it's not anything personal. The simple matter is a proper athlete shouldn't just be content with chasing accolades and championships. They should be pushing themselves, exceeding their limits, and for me that means going after the biggest, toughest man in the yard. And if that doesn't describe Brody, I don't know what does.
Linwood: I understand the sentiment, but Brody's an entirely different breed unto himself. You've heard the stories of his death matches, his feuds with Abdullah the Butcher, you might not walk out of this the same man.
Jeff Cobb: That's the case in any match, and yes I know you mean that in particular with Brody's rep, but all it takes is one tour... and you never want to come back. I want to prove it to myself I can survive wrestling's most dangerous man, and see if he can survive me.
KAIRI SANE vs BRITNEY BLAKE
Britney Blake is a spirited competitor. Blake has a varied arsenal of moves at her disposal. Blake is also not nearly as experienced as Kairi Sane. While Sane can't end it early with the Insane Elbow, repeated use of the Ikari wears her foe down in short order.
Ontario Tag Team Championship Round Robin Tournament: HURT TRUST LLC (CEDRIC ALEXANDER & SHELTON BENJAMIN) vs WAR MACHINE (HANSON & ROWE)
Shelton and Rowe jaw jack as the bell rings, and Benjamin pie faces Rowe... which turns out to be a mistake when Rowe grabs Shelton's arm and T-Bone Suplexes him. Rowe delivers some nasty blows to Shelton, culminating in a missed Running Knee Strike giving Shelton the chance to tag in Cedric. The Hurt Trust has control, wearing down Rowe, until the Hurt Trust Connection crashes and burns, giving Rowe a chance to tag in Hanson. Cedric survives a pair of exploder suplexes and has to roll away like greased lightening to tag in Shelton who manages to outsmart the larger War Raider. A "Holy $#!?" chant breaks out when Benjamin somehow, someway gets Hanson up for a Turnbuckle Powerbomb! Somehow Hanson survives several pin attempts and counters a high kick from Cedric to bring Rowe back in. It's just back and forth for a whopping 15 minutes, until the War Machine hit their namesake move on Shelton and he's basically cooked.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 3: BRUISER BRODY vs BARON VON RASCHKE
Raschke gets an early upper hand on the Bruiser, but telegraphs a punch for too long. From there it's mostly Brody, who still has to work to get Raschke to stay down long enough for the ref to count to three. Brodie grabs a camera and shouts right at it, "COBB!! You want to keep your teeth in your mouth?! Get my name out of it!" and then he storms on to the back.
MAIN EVENT Ontario Multi-Man Rules Exhibition Match: SUPER NOVA vs KYLE O’REILLY vs GREG VALENTINE w/”Luscious” Johnny V
James Irish: This is the first ever Ontario Multi-Man Rules Match! Each participant must score a pinfall or submission on BOTH of his opponents to win! There are NO eliminations, NO count outs, however if a wrestler is disqualified he will be ejected from the match AND forfeit his share of the match purse!
As the three men size each other up, Valentine makes the first move, working over Nova with his classic "wear the opponent down for the submission style." O'Reilly smells an opportunity for a quick pin, gets in a few licks only for Nova to reverse a Snap Suplex and score the first near fall of the match on Kyle via the Scream Machine. From there the three trade major moves, with Valentine scoring the first point by making Nova submit to the Figure Four Leglock, which Nova avenges with a Novacane for a successful pin five minutes later. O'Reilly, realizing he's now both men's target, plays as much keep away as he can, and gets Armageddon on Valentine for a successful pin to get on the board. The instant Kyle's up, Nova lands Novacane and gets the three count despite the loud protestations of Johnny V trying to keep the match going for Valentine's sake. The match gets a standing ovation from the Fredonia crowd, fully respecting the efforts of all three men.

The larger gate from the Fredonia show helped pay off the majority of the loan to bring in Kairi Sane for the one-off appearance, keeping things on track going into the company’s first show in Niagara Falls. The tournament has so far gone off pretty well, with this upcoming card set to solidify the semi-finals. GOWC has slowly but surely been picking up national attention, with a few other mid-level wrestling news outlets picking up coverage of the shows so far with Keith Lee, Kyle O'Reilly and Tomohiro Ishii being marked as putting in career highlight performances. It also helps that Port Able Wrestling Association, ran by James’ friend Pembroke W Korgi in the Dallas, TX area, loaned one of his top guys for a special main event match in return for Kyle O’Reilly working one of his shows the week before the Niagara Falls show. As such, this would be their first show to sell out just before the night of the event, and the team had to quickly react on social media to let people know that IWTV would be the only place for those who missed tickets to check out…

With the sold out crowd, the GOWC backstage team is pumped and eager to give Niagara Falls the best night of independent wrestling they can!
TIGER CONWAY JR vs JOHNNY RODZ Conway Jr. is able to counter an arm drag into an abdominal stretch, and is able to keep up with most everything Rodz can throw at him. Tiger climbs to the top turnbuckle after a few minutes, but he's met by Rodz who uppercuts him and slams him to the mat, and then is able to get a near fall off a shoulder breaker. A series of reversals going into a turnbuckle spot gives Tiger Conway Jr enough of an edge to score a three count off a picture perfect Huracanrana.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 2: “Limitless” KEITH LEE vs KYLE O'REILLY Kyle comes out hot with a series of strikes as the bell rings, but Keith shuts him down with a Belly to Belly Suplex. The Limitless One begins his own assault, only for O'Reilly to duck a clothesline, chain some offense together (including a Snap Suplex that had even Kyle surprised he managed to land!) and lock on Armageddon. From there a wholly focused Kyle O'Reilly uses every move and hold he knows in his effort to put his much larger foe away, and for his part Keith refuses to give up for nearly anything! It takes a nasty Triangle Choke to make Keith actually pass out after 10 punishing minutes of offense.
And like clockwork after the bell rings, the Heenan Family charges the ring to continue their vendetta against Keith Lee. Big Bully Busick applies a modified Stump Puller to give Nick Bockwinkle the room to lock a wrenching hold on Lee's right arm, while Heenan eggs his men on while Kyle looks completely baffled as he gets up from the exhausting match. Once he gets to his feet, O'Reilly angrily shoves Heenan to the mat as D'Lo Brown races in from backstage with a steel chair to rescue his friend. The Heenan Family bails out, but the damage has been done; referee Matt Tobin is able to revive Keith, but it turns out he can't even move his right arm. With help from Tobin and D'Lo, Keith is able to get to the backstage area on his own steam, and receives a standing ovation from the crowd as he does. Once we know more about his condition after he's checked out by a doctor we will share it with you.
LIVE Backstage Interview with the Heenan Family Recently hired interviewer Alicia Coast races to catch up to Bobby Heenan and his charges as they celebrate their dirty deed.
Alicia Coast: Heenan, you have a lot of explaining to do! What exactly is your beef with Keith Lee??
Bobby Heenan: Explain to who, you?! Did you sneak into the backstage area or something, toots? Let's see some credentials, or better yet, just give us that mic!
Busick snatches the mic from Alicia and hands it off to Nick Bockwinkle.
Nick Bockwinkle: It's so simple even you peasants watching this in your mama's basement can understand this! Keith Lee is NOTHING! He's a flash in the pan! He walks around here like he's worth his weight in gold, and it's all garbage! He's not even worthy of polishing my boots with a toothbrush! But all we hear is how he's the internet darling of the era, how he's the most gifted athlete to step into the ring, how he's absolutely Limitless! Well, I think we found exactly what his limit is, didn't we, boys? Now let's go, I still have a match tonight I need to prepare for.
Bockwinkle just shoves the mic back into the arms of Alicia Coast.
JAKE “The Milkman” MILLIMAN vs SHELTON BENJAMIN Shelton opens with a dragon whip, clotheslines the Milkman to the mat, and the Paydirt puts Jake out like a light. The look on Shelton's face says it all: this was a statement.
Ontario Tag Team Championship Round Robin Tournament: THE DREAM TEAM (BRUTUS BEEFCAKE & GREG “The Hammer” VALENTINE w/”Luscious” Johnny V) vs THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & “Jumping” JIM BRUNZELL) With neither team coming in with a winning record in the Round Robin tournament, the pressure is on for both the Dream Team and the Killer Bees. Brunzell and Valentine trade holds in the opening, leading into Valentine slipping him up for an early shoulder breaker. Beefcake tags in and lands a backbreaker drop, and the writhing Brunzell uses his adrenaline to quickly tag in Blair. B. Brian Blair lands a wind-up sledge, then a second rope clothesline for a mere two count. When a sleeper doesn't put Beefcake away, Brunzell is tagged in for s Bee Sting, and Johnny V breaks up the pin by blowing cigar smoke in Brunzell's eye! Brunzell rolls out of the ring to hit Valiant with one of his patented drop kicks, but Valentine tags in during the fracas which somehow referee Krissi Harding is able to keep track of. The Bees are just on fire, though, quick tagging and hitting Valentine with an array of double team moves. A frustrated Hammer rolls out of the ring, pulls Blair with him, and whales on him with a steel chair, leading to Harding calling for a DQ! Johnny V and Beefcake are FURIOUS, and the whole thing degenerates into an all out brawl as security, led by Justin Toner, has to break the whole thing up.
Ontario Championship Tournament Match, Bracket 4: “Mr. Athletic” JEFF COBB vs NICK BOKCWINKLE w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan All eyes are on this match; if Cobb wins, he gets his wish to face off with Bruiser Brody and see if he can hang with the ruthless, reckless brawler. If Bockwinkle wins, it's one step closer to the Heenan family holding the conference's top prize, which after tonight's display of petty cruelty, not a single fan in the building wants to see. Like the last time Cobb was in the ring, Brody is spotted watching from afar, while D'Lo Brown waits at the entrance way alongside Tiger Conway Jr. and Super Nova, aiming to keep Big Bully Busick away from the match.
Cobb lands his strikes early on, but Bockwinkle slips out of a delayed suplex attempt and pushes the Honolulu native into the ropes, dropkicking him into the mat. Bockwinkle just keeps hitting back suplexes and pile drivers, despite the apparent lack of a neck on Cobb. Nick just can't seem to keep him in a pinning or submission predicament, though, and in his irritation he sends Cobb out of the ring to whip him into the corner post, only for Mr. Athletic to reverse it! Now Jeff Cobb begins to build up momentum, which Bockwinkle tries and fails to thwart, and Cobb's trademark Bam-Bam Rolling Gutwrench Suplexes almost put Bockwinkle away. Nick is able to duck a shoulder tackle, and slaps on the Bockwinkle Sleeper, but Cobb reaches the ropes. A Figure Four Leg-Lock gets a similar result, and Bockwinkle throws Cobb to the ropes for a shoulder tackle. It doesn't work, but all Jeff gets from his counter attack is a counter into a roll-up which he kicks out of at 2. The two trade dodges and counters until Bockwinkle can lay Cobb low with a drop kick, and this time the Figure Four gets the submission victory. Bruiser Brody shakes his head in disgust and walks away.
MAIN EVENT EXHIBITION MATCH: "Hacksaw" JIM DUGGAN vs “The Lariat” STAN HANSEN (Courtesy of Port Able Wrestling Association)
Knowing better than to chant "USA!" at a Texan, ol' Hacksaw just braces himself for the incoming war. The two trade hard hitting fists and tackles before Duggan is able to land the Tough Guy Clothesline, sending Stan out of the ring. Their brawl outside the ring hits as hard as their blows inside it, with Hansen just barely getting the advantage and getting him and his foe in the ring to avoid the 10 count. Hansen's pride won't let him accept a count out victory this early. From there it's nothing but the stiffest, nastiest blows both men can dish out with their fists, forearms and knees, with neither getting an advantage until Duggan hits the mother of all clotheslines on someone who would know all about that, getting a victory to send the fans home happy!
(Regarding the injury angle, Keith survived five pin and submission attempts before he finally was defeated, and that's my magic number to check for an injury. Going to be very interesting working around this one. As for the Duggan victory, you should have seen my eyes when Hansen rolled a snake eyes on the very first pin attempt of the match!)

First and foremost, Keith Lee suffered a significant muscle tear in his right shoulder thanks to Nick Bockwinkle's assault after his grueling match with Kyle O'Reilly. He's going to be out of action until October. The team is heartbroken to see him hurt, and will be doing everything they can to assist with rehab costs. To cover said costs, each member of the Heenan family has been fined an undisclosed amount in return for Bockwinkle being allowed to remain in the tournament.
Still, the show must go on. The semi-finals of the championship tournament are imminent, as are the remaining matches in the tag team round robin tournament, and the team behind GOWC is firing on all cylinders going into their debut in Syracuse. The majority of the signed talent have agreed to longer term contracts, with only a few hold-outs entertaining other offers and/or waiting to see how the tournaments conclude before deciding their next move. Moreover, due to the response to the Sane/Blake match in Fredonia, plans are being fast tracked to begin the Women’s division by bringing in Sane on a full time basis and start building a division around her and a smattering of other performers depending on crowd reaction and availability. Sane is in the middle of a tour in Japan at this point, and Blake is at this moment working for Beth and Frank Tenace, who are promoting and operating in the Seattle, WA area as Mt Saint Helens Championship Wrestling. So instead, the formula of “respected major name vs promising up and comer” is being repeated with Jazz and Willow Nightingale. With that, it’s full speed ahead towards…

Originating from Syracuse for the first time, tonight the finals of both the GOWC World Championship and Tag Team Championship tournaments will take shape!
LANCE CASSIDY vs COLT CABANA
Lance gets an arm twister in at the first lock-up, but Colt escaps the single leg trip follow-up and hits a few high impact moves, and Colt .45 puts Lance away.
Ontario Tag Team Championship Round Robin Tournament: WAR MACHINE (HANSON & ROWE, Current Score 2-0) vs THE DREAM TEAM (BRUTUS BEEFCAKE & GREG “The Hammer” VALENTINE w/”Luscious” Johnny V, Current Score 0-2)
Linwood Knight: Only pride is really on the line here. War Machine is looking for a perfect run before the final match, while the Dream Team wants to play the spoilers.
Hanson and Brutus Beefcake, the two larger men in the match, open things up, and the latter is able to keep up in the first minute but scrambles to get Valentine in after a nasty running powerslam. They're trying every trick in the book against the larger man of the Machine, who can only amount quick counter attacks before being outfixed again. It's six minutes in that Hanson finally levels Beefcake with a bulldozer of a lariet and gets Rowe into the match. An overhead suplex on Brutus gets a 2, and it's back and forth until Valentine and Hanson are both in, and the latter crashes into the turnbuckle, elbowed on the head and lands for a pin attempt that he kicks out of at 2. Beefcake returns and has Hanson where he wants him, to the point Rowe has to break up a pin. It's so much back and forth action from two stubborn teams, even with Beefcake kicking out of the War Machine's namesake finisher while Rowe knocks Johnny V off the apron! Finally, Valentine manages a shoulder breaker on Hanson, and Brutus Beefcake stops Rowe from breaking up the pin, securing the victory for the Dream Team!
Ontario Championship Tournament Semi-Finals: BRUISER BRODY vs NICK BOCKWINKLE w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
In the opening minute the reversals are fast and furious with both men knowing what's at stake, as Bockwinkle gets in a roll-up that's kicked out of at the count of 1. Brody abuses Bockwinkle furiously, and Nick is able to use his wits and Heenan's advice to mostly keep up as they trade pin and submission attempts. Bockwinkle is able to lock in the Figure Four dead center in the ring, though, and the torque on Bruiser Brody's legs is just too much and even his stubborn nature finds its limits as he taps! Bockwinkle goes to the final round!!
JAZZ vs WILLOW NIGHTINGALE
Jazz naturally asserts herself easily against the comparative rookie, mostly dominating until Willow dodges a leg drop. Her comeback is cut short, and a DDT from Jazz only earns her a two count. She goes right into the Bitch Clamp, though, earning Jazz a submission victory.
LIVE Backstage Interview with Kyle O'Reilly
Alicia Coast stands by with O'Reilly, who seems to be pondering something.
Alicia Coast: Kyle, thank you for granting us this time before your match to answer a couple questions. You were right in the middle of the blow-up between Bobby Heenan's gang and Keith Lee after defeating the latter, and you did not look happy. A lot of us thought you and Lee were intense rivals and you'd be glad to see it.
Kyle O'Reilly: It's true, there's no love lost between Keith and I. We've traded victories by the narrowest of margins in other territories and neither of us seemed to get the true advantage over the other. In Niagara Falls I finally got that definitive win over him, and what should have been a moment of catharsis turned into a farce. Bockwinkle wants to call someone like Keith nothing while relying on a bowler hat wearing throwback and mouth-running rodent to take him out? That's nothing but ridiculous!
Alicia Coast: You potentially could be up against Bockwinkle in the tournament finals in Rochester if you can survive Shane Douglas tonight.
Kyle O'Reilly: Yeah, the most entitled man in the business, at least on this coast. You struck gold in Philadelphia and now you think every promotion on the planet owes you the red carpet. You're only looking at Armageddon, Shane. See you in the ring.
Ontario Tag Team Championship Round Robin Tournament: HURT TRUST LLC (CEDRIC ALEXANDER & SHELTON BENJAMIN, Current Score 1-1) vs THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & “Jumping” JIM BRUNZELL, Current Score 1-1)
Linwood Knight: The stakes are high here, friends. The winning team will go against War Machine for the tag titles in our next card, and that team is just coming off a loss against the Dream Team, who both teams in the ring right now have beat in the tournament. Of course, both teams here have also been beaten by War Machine, which just goes to show how competitive these four pairings have become!
Blair and Alexander start, but quickly both teams are tagging their respective members in and out trying to figure out how to gain an advantage over the other. Brunzell kicks out of a pin from Alexander following a full nelson facebuster, then Blair tags in and gets a lateral guillotine on Cedric for a 2 count. Alexander counters a flying cross body with a high kick and gets a 2 on Blair, then tags Shelton back in, trying Paydirt on Blair for a 2. Brunzell gets back in and he and Shelton have a glorious exchange of counter moves, but Shelton is able to hit Paydirt on Jim for a three count, sending Hurt Trust LLC off to try and avenge their loss against the War Machine and win the tag belts!
Ontario Championship Tournament Semi-Finals:
KYLE O'REILLY vs "The Franchise" SHANE DOUGLAS Shane is introduced first, and takes the mic from James a little less forcefully than the last time he had something on his mind.
Shane Douglas: You know, back in Buffalo, I said this fourth rate federation wasn't giving me the treatment I deserved! Well, all it took was defeating a couple of management's favorites to get them to realize why I'm the Franchise Player and pay for the travel expenses of a certain special someone...
He motions to the entrance, and to the crowd's surprise out comes Francine who blows a kiss to the camera and joins Shane in the ring. Once Kyle is introduced, the bell rings and the main event is on!
Shane is a house of fire, trying several times to put Kyle away early to no avail. It's three minutes of non-stop offense from the Franchise until Kyle is finally able to get out of the way of a clothesline into the corner. The hope doesn't last long, as Shane just keeps on coming and dominating the match. When Kyle manages to get Shane thrown into the ropes, it looks like a mistake until he boots him square in the chest! Kyle is able to string together some offense, but in the end it's just not enough and Shane resumes his dominant ways, finishing off Kyle with a Piledriver.
Post-match, Kyle is having trouble with his neck, and needs to be assisted out of ring. We will update you all on his condition as soon as we can.
(Unbelievable. I peg Kyle to be the top babyface to replace Keith in the title picture, and now he's injured, too! Six fatigue tokens and being finished with a Piledriver, yikes. The dice do not want a babyface singles champion, it seems.)

DATE: August 27, 2022 through September 10
To the shock of the fans and the front office, Kyle O’Reilly suffered a severe neck sprain during his match against Shane Douglas, and will be out until the middle of October. This all having been said, unlike the situation with Keith Lee and the Heenan Family, nothing Shane did was outside the rules, so no fines are being levied against him. To help the conference pay for some of Kyle's rehab costs, they're scrambling a photo session for fans with the Conference Championship belt before the show begins.
Time stops for no man, so GOWC returns home to Rochester, NY with a massive card in tow. The push to build a women’s division is in full swing, with a pair of matches putting three more new-to-the-company faces in front of fans alongside the return of Kairi Sane to the promotion on a long-term basis. New tag teams are in competition tonight as well, since with the new tag champions being crowned they will need fresh opponents. Everyone signed to the company, who isn't on the injured list, and then some (namely guests for the battle royal from the Seattle and Dallas territories courtesy of the Tenaces and Pembroke W. Korgi) will be participating in one form or another tonight, culminating in a steel cage match in the championship tournament finals. With more matches and bigger spectacle, GOWC enters its most prestigious venue yet, the Main Street Armory, for…

A buzzing Rochester crowd is eager to see who walks away with the freshly revealed championships for the conference. But the surprises begin early, with Linwood Knight in the ring to greet the crowd as the show opens.
Linwood Knight: Good evening Rochester, New York! Welcome to the End of the Origin! I'm Linwood Knight, and tonight we have an absolutely jam packed card, legitimately our biggest ever in terms of star power and matches, but first on behalf of everyone who has been busting their asses on stage and backstage, we want to say thank you for your support, whether you've been with us since the beginning or are just joining us now, be it live in person or watching us on IWTV, the point is you're here, and there's no us without you!! We're about to get started here, and-
Voice: Not without me, Mister Knight!
Linwood raises a surprised eyebrow and turns to see STOKELY HATHAWAY, dressed to impress and walking down the isle with some purpose, mic in hand.
Stokely Hathaway: I'm sure most of you don't need me to introduce myself, but for those who do not know, I am Stokely Hathaway, the HARDEST working man in sports entertainment today! And as of today, I am an investor in the Greater Ontario Wrestling Conference!
Linwood Knight: Yes, this much I personally already know, I was in the meeting this morning, but what does that have to do with you being here right now? You couldn't wait for the media scrum after the show?
Stokely gets in the ring to speak with Linwood face to face.
Stokely Hathaway: Ohhhhh, you know I like to have my hand in several pies, Mister Knight. I know you've watched my career in the few moments you haven't been obsessing over which Okada match is your favorite. And I'm sure you realize it's only a matter of time before I start representing talent in this company, but first I need to get the proper lay of the land. Man had to learn how to walk before he could run, after all. Henceforth, my authoritative, avuncular announcer, we are broadcast colleagues!
Stokely motions for a handshake, and Linwood tentatively settles for a fist bump.
Stokely Hathaway: You'll come around, I'm sure.
Linwood Knight: Let's get this show on the road, folks. Let's bring out our two NEWEST tag teams signed to the conference!
TEXAS HANGMEN (KILLER & PSYCHO) vs BEAR COUNTRY (BEAR BOULDER & BEAR BRONSON)
The Bears open up by treating Killer to a virtual pic-a-nic basket of PAIN, getting an early Elevator Drop in for a 2 count. Boulder misses a big boot, and his momentum has him stumble onto his front side, giving Killer an opening to knee drop Boulder's back and tag in Psycho. The double teams from the Hangmen flow fast as they try to keep the massive Bear Boulder down to no avail. Boulder powers out of their grasp and lands a Bearsault on Killer for a 2 count, and he tags in Bronson who, after some more devastating offense, manages the win off a pin following a standing uranage.
BIG BULLY BUSICK w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan vs JOHNNY RODZ
Rodz catches native of Weirton right off the bat with a powerful head butt, and keeps it up before the Bully blocks an attemt by Rodz to ram his head into the turnbuckle and rakes him in the eye to take over. It's back and forth until Rodz gets the better of a mid-ring collision, but even his trademark shoulderbreaker can't get the job done the first time. The second time, Heenan leaps onto the ring only to receive a head butt himself, knocking him OUT! With a renewed sense of determination, the Bully kicks it up a gear and fights even dirtier after Rodz tries for the pin a third time, but Rodz escapes the first Stump Puller attempt. The second attempt comes after Busick stomps the targeted leg and is done dead center of the ring, and Rodz has to tap. Post-match, the Bully revives Heenan and shares the good news, to the Brain's massive relief.
Linwood Knight: Sounds like the Weasel is taking that as a portent of things to come tonight. In the steel cage main event, both he and Francine will be restricted to the entrance ramp.
Stokely Hathaway: You and I both know that's not stopping either of them from trying something.
Linwood Knight: Just like it wouldn't stop you?
Stokley Hathaway: I'm pleading the fifth.
LADY SHANI vs MAKI ITOH
Shani's on fire to open, sending Itoh into the ropes and bicycle kicking her down. Itoh nearly submits to an Octopus Hold, and the two spill out to the ring and trade blows and the occasional middle finger. Back in the ring the Octopus Hold again fails as Itoh rocks out of it wildly, and Maki knocks the cobwebs off and sends Shani into the ropes for a successful dropkick. Like a spider Maki climbs the turnbuckles and lands the Flying Big Head and wins with a hand full of Lady Shani's tights!!
20 MAN BATTLE ROYAL Featuring: Jake “The Milkman” Milliman, Lance Cassidy, D’Lo Brown, Tiger Conway Jr, Super Nova, Bruiser Brody, Jeff Cobb, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, B. Brian Blair, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Colt Cabana, Baron von Raschke, “The Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii, Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, Sonny Kiss, Zack Sabre Jr, "Aussie Arrow" Kyle Fletcher and "Dunkzilla" Mark Davis
Describing the action in a battle royal is like trying to drink from a fire hose, so here's your order of eliminations along with some highlights:
1. PSICOSIS eliminates KYLE FLETCHER 2. SONNY KISS eliminates MARK DAVIS 3. SUPER NOVA eliminates JIM DUGGAN 4. TOMOHIRO ISHII eliminates GREG VALENTINE 5. SONNY KISS eliminates TOMOHIRO ISHII 6. SUPER NOVA eliminates JUVENTUD GUERRERA 7. JEFF COBB eliminates TIGER CONWAY JR 8. D'LO BROWN eliminates JAKE MILLIMAN 9. LANCE CASSIDY eliminates BARON VON RASCHKE 10. JEFF COBB eliminates PSICOSIS 11. COLT CABANA eliminates ZACK SABRE JR 12. B. BRIAN BLAIR eliminates STEVE WILLIAMS 13. LANCE CASSIDY eliminates B. BRIAN BLAIR
Lance Cassidy is getting genuinely excited after scoring his second elimination, he doesn't notice Bruiser Brody looming right behind him!
14. BRUISER BRODY eliminates LANCE CASSIDY 15. BRIOSER BRODY eliminates D'LO BROWN 16. JEFF COBB eliminates BRUISER BRODY!!!!
Brody is beside himself with anger at Cobb! He's knocking referees down with clothesline after clothesline in an attempt to get back at Mr. Athletic, security has to come out to stop him!
17. JEFF COBB eliminates SUPER NOVA 18. JEFF COBB eliminates COLT CABANA
It's down to an absolutely on fire Jeff Cobb versus one of our guests and honestly an underdog in this environment, Sonny Kiss. Kiss is ducking, dodging, doing everything in his power to stay away from the powerhouse trying to chase him down. Kiss lands a kick to the side of Cobb's head, he inches closer to the ropes, and Sonny lands the mother of all cartwheel kicks to send Cobb flying over the top rope!
19. SONNY KISS eliminates JEFF COBB!
SONNY KISS IS YOUR WINNER!!!
Linwood Knight: What an upset! Our talent relations team is going to be keeping an eye on when Sonny's contract with Mount Saint Helens Wrestling is up for sure!
Stokely Hathaway: If you value your life, I wouldn't suggest holding your breath on that. I hear Madame Beth Tenace is very, very attached to the Pride of Jersey City, for very obvious reasons as he just showed tonight with this victory! Of course, we could arrange a hostile takeover.
Linwood Knight: You know that's not how this company operates, right?
Intermission
BRUTUS BEEFCAKE w/”Luscious” Johnny V vs. “JUMPING” JIM BRUNZELL
Beefcake gets in some quick snap mares, but his attempt at a flying forearm hammer is dodged, leading to a wild series of reversals and avoidances until Brunzell is able to successfully land a double toehold. The duo spill out of the ring and Beefcake slams Brunzell into the steps, and walks into the ring to celebrate and settle for a count out victory, until Brunzell catches him with his back turned and pulls him back out to blast his head into the apron! Brunzell works over Brutus, then sends him to the ropes for a shoulder block which Beefcake blocks beautifully. Beefcake lands a backbreaker drop for a 2 count, and the Jumping High Knee gets a closer 2 count, followed by another. Johnny V shouts at his charge to slam him into the turnbuckle, and Brunzell recovers enough to reverse it, and they struggle in the corner until Jumping Jim knees Beefcake in the gut, and hits a knee drop off the top turnbuckle right onto Beefcake's back for a pin attempt and a two count! Brunzell hits his flawless dropkick, and goes for the pin, but referee Matt Tobin doesn't even get to 2 before Johnny V grabs the timekeeper's hammer and rings the bell! As Brunzell protests, Beefcake gets up and hooks in the Sleeper! Brunzell somehow gets to the ropes to break the hold, but he's just worn out at this point, and he's on his knees as Beefcake lands one more running knee strike to put the Killer Bee into lala land for the three count.
KAIRI SANE vs "SUPER BAD GIRL" PENELOPE FORD
Ford and Sane trade blows and jockey for the advantage over various locks and holds, evenly matched. Ford breaks through with an early Code Breaker to bring Sane to the mat, and the Super Bad Girl just ramps up the pressure, forcing Kairi to escape modified Camel Clutches and pummeling her with kicks. Kairi gets a break when she clotheslines Ford down from the corner, and manages some offense, but Ford keeps up and eventually puts her back on the mat with another Code Breaker. Ford keeps it up, forcing Sane to escape Cattle Mutilation, and as Ford keeps it up the crowd rallies around Kairi Sane, egging her on to smack the taste out of Penelope's mouth and hit her with a springboard dropkick! She only manages a 2 count, however, and even the Insane Elbow registers a 2.9999 on the following pin attempt! A second attempt gets the same!!
Linwood Knight: Both women are desperate to stay in this match!
Stokely Hathaway: Of course they are! They're signed, and they know a championship is coming eventually and want to be in contention for it! But even these reserves from Ford are surprising me!
All told, it takes 2 Super Bad Cutters to finally put Sane down, and the fans give both women a standing ovation.
Tag Team Championship Finals WAR MACHINE (HANSON & ROWE) vs HURT TRUST, LLC (CEDRIC ALEXANDER & SHELTON BENJAMIN)
Raymond Rowe knees Shelton in the ribs after the referee finishes presenting the tag belts and calls for the opening bell, and Rowe lands a deadlift German suplex on his foe! He goes to the well one too many times, though, as Shelton elbows out, hits a dropkick, and goes for an early Paydirt for a 2 count! Cedric is in after that, and he keeps the pain going, but can't get Rowe with a forearm. Rowe hits a belly to belly suplex, and tags in Hanson who knocks Cedric out of the ring and follows only for Cedric to drop kick the big man into the post. Cedric and Shelton have to work together to get the big man back into the ring, and try though Hanson might, Cedric is too quick and slippery to get caught at this point in the match, as he and Shelton blast him with a double Enziguri. Benjamin hits a superkick to flatten the massive Las Vegas native, and Rowe breaks up the ensuing pin count at 2! Paydirt is hit on Hanson, and this time Cedric intercepts Rowe, but Hanson still kicks out this time. Shelton tags in Cedric, and he tries a cross body when Hanson rises, but Hanson pulls the referee in the way!! Hanson's groggy enough to not mount much attack, so Cedric lands two more devastating moves, but when he goes to revive the ref Hanson grabs him by the foot and rolls him over. Hanson struggles up as Cedric races to tag, and Shelton clobbers the big man but the referee remains down long enough for Hanson to throw Benjamin to the mat, and then he hits a MOONSAULT!!! Exhausted, he tags in Rowe, and it's just WAR between these two, with a Paydirt not getting a three count from the recovered ref. Cedric tags in, lands a missile drop kick, and Rowe just gets his leg on the rope to avoid the pin.
Cedric keeps it up, and Rowe dodges away from a forearm and tags Hanson in, who hits a Snake Eyes on Cedric and only gets a 2 count. Cedric absorbs TWO War Machines, and Shelton has to interfere and break up the pin! Hanson brutalizes Cedric even more, and they hit the War Machine again, and Cedric barely breaks it up! Hanson is pissed and berates the referee, which gives Cedric enough time to gather his adrenaline and LEAP to tag in Shelton! Benjamin pie-faces Hanson, dragon whips him down, and hits one last Paydirt for a three count.
YOUR INAUGRAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, HURT TRUST LLC!!
Stokely Hathaway: I've got my eyes on those two now.
Linwood Knight: Given their past experiences being on the bad end of deals with MVP, I don't think they're biting on a management deal anytime soon.
Stokely Hathaway: Maybe not, but I'm still watching.
A Message from Keith Lee
As the ring team puts up the steel cage, following a hype package recapping both contender's paths to the finals, we cut to this pre-recorded message from the Limitless One. We see Keith at his home, wearing a GOWC t-shirt and sitting on his front porch.
Keith Lee: Greetings and salutations, everyone, but especially you, Nick Bockwinkle. Yes, you and your manager the Mustelidae Mustela. I want to let everyone know my shoulder tear is nearly healed, and I will be back in action when GOWC does its first show at the Dome Arena in Henrietta, New York, on October Eighth. Bockwinkle, whether you're a champion or you come up short, I'm coming for you regardless. Your reckoning is coming, and you will bask in my glory.
Singles Championship Finals STEEL CAGE MATCH NICK BOCKWINKLE w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan vs SHANE DOUGLAS w/Francine
As the fans try to figure out who they hate less, Shane and Nick trade slaps, then fists, and Bockwinkle gets an upper hand with a forearm smash. The advantage is momentary, as Bockwinkle tries to clothesline Douglas but he ducks and hits him with one of his own. Douglas sends Bockwinkle into the corner, but Nick dodges a clothesline and Shane eats turnbuckle. Bockwinkle tosses Shane into the ropes again only for the Franchise Player to hit a sunset flip and score a two count. Shane lands a gordbuster, a powerbomb and more, but gets greedy and Bockwinkle is able to duck a lariat and forces Shane to the mat for a Boston Crab which Shane only escapes by scrambling to the ropes. Shane survives two attempts at the Figure Four Leglock, one time actually reversing it, and then escapes the Bockwinkle Sleeper by a hair's breadth! His resiliency is for naught, as Nick chokes him on the ropes then locks the Sleeper in one last time and Shane passes out.
YOUR INAUGRAL GREATER ONTARIO WRESTLING CONFERENCE CHAMPION, NICK BOCKWINKLE!!
Bobby Heenan has never been visibly happier. For the first time in a long time, a federation's top prize is in the hands of a man he manages, and he didn't even have to do anything to help his man. Keith Lee's shadow looms large, metaphorically, over this victory, however; how will the Brain protect his meal ticket?
To Be Continued in Chapter 2: Weasely Ways!
