The Canadian Wrestling Alliance Presents:
STAMPEDE DAZE Ed Whalen is on hand to introduce the festivities of this weeks' show and is reminding fans about the upcoming rodeo as well as the tournament that will be bracketed and announced over the next several weeks to crown the inaugural CWA Provincial Champion. He is interrupted by the Poffos who begin bad-mouthing the Canadian fans and the promoters and explaining how the Poffo family would soon own not just the CWA, but all of this "worthless tundra of icy wasteland". As Angelo's mouth continues to run and spew forth his venom, the mysterious Wright Brothers wander down to ringside and challenge the Poffos to a match, "right here! right now!" The Poffos agree... 1. The Wright Brothers def The Poffos via DQ when Lanny, realizing how much trouble dear old dad is in, opts to attempt a 3rd and highly illegal Pin Save. The referee warns Lanny once and then calls for the bell. The 4 men continue to brawl up the ramp and into the back. 2. The Mountie def Les Thatcher after the referee who couldn't allow Lanny a 3rd Pin Save turns a blind eye to the tactics (and Cattle Prod) of the Mountie. Thatcher challenges to a rematch the following week after being attended to by the ringside physicians. 3. The Masked Menace (Superstar II and Destroyer) def Marty Janetty and Jim Powers after a timely distraction by Sir Oliver Humperdinck. Janetty and Powers made the most of their tag-team expertise and were keeping the big men off guard and on the defensive, til Sir Oliver appeared and got Janetty's attention, allowing Superstar to make the hot tag to Destroyer. A few well timed moves and a superplex later and the Menace start their CWA career in the black. 4. Bad News Allen and Stu Hart wrestled to a 20 minute TLD. A surprising handshake before and after the match left fans a bit confused what to make of Mr. Allen after all these years. Stu however seemed to have no hesitation at accepting his hand both times. A 20 minute clinic of hold and counter hold was immensely enjoyed by all in attendance 5. Randy Savage (w/ Angelo) def JJ Dillon with the Flying Elbow Drop. Dillon seemed out gunned and out classed from the get go, getting in only 1 brief offensive flurry before Savage mercifully planted and pinned him. The Mountie (W/ Humperdink) came out and accepted Thatcher's challenge. MAIN EVENT: Frank Gotch def Wladek Zbyszko 2 falls to 1. Gotch took the first with the Toe Hold in almost 20 minutes. Zbyszko came back with a pair of Crotch Lift and Body Throws. The controversial 3rd fall saw Gotch avoid a turnbuckle charge and roll up Zbyszko for the pin. Replays showed that Wladek had his hand on the bottom rope just after the 2 count. At this point the referees decision is final, though apparently Zbyszko's people are petitioning the governing body to look into it. Ed Whalen returns to ringside to wish everyone a safe week...

The Canadian Wrestling Alliance Presents:
STRANGER BREWS Ed Whalen is once again at ringside to welcome the crowd for this weeks festivities and to remind the live and home audience it is not too late to get your tickets for the upcoming Stampede Rodeo and to announce that this week the tournament to crown the first CWA Provincial Champion will kickoff with 4 of the 8 first round matches, a rematch between Les Thatcher and the Mountie and... At this point the Poffo Family comes down and demands the Wright Brothers be banned from the CWA for paying off the referees and that if a real challenge for Randy doesn't arrive soon, he will be forced to take matters into his own hands and start injuring these "wannabe's" one at a time, beginning with whomever he is stuck facing in the first round of the Provincial Tournament. Ed Whalen informs "Mr. Savage" that he might not have the easy time he thinks for his first round opponent who is awaiting him in the ring. The fans go absolutely wild to see Stu Hart in the ring, and Savage is livid as he storms away from the interview set and towards the ring. Angelo is hurling insults and threats towards Whalen, who informs him they will get their rematch with the Wright Brothers next week in the main event. 1. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) Stu Hart def Randy Savage by reverse decision after the match. Savage came out angry and intent on causing pain and damage to Stu, targeting his right leg and specifically the knee. Stu continually thwarted Savage's worst attempts and this seemed to make the Macho Man all the more angry. Finally, Savage just rolled up Stu with an illegal handful of tights the referee didn't see and got the 3 count. But after Stu turned his back, Savage viciously attacked after the bell with a flying knee that sent Stu to the concrete and there Savage pummeled him with everything that wasn't nailed down until Bad News Allen came down swinging a chair to make the save. A subdued and anxious crowd watched Stu Hart, bleeding, strapped to a gurney and wheeled out of the arena. Bad News Allen stormed through the dressing room area yelling for Savage. 2. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) Whipper Watson def Greg Valentine with the CCU. A slow start as these 2 veterans felt each other out and took stock of one another's strengths and weaknesses. After about the 5 minute mark, the pace picked up and both men enjoyed the advantage at multiple points. The end arrived when Valentine (for reasons no one could fathom) forgot he was a ground wrestler and took to the top rope, where Watson caught him, tossed him to the mat and within seconds had the CCU locked in for the win. 3. Frank Gotch def Sam Houston with the Gotch Toehold. Rather a non-match as it took Gotch about 3 moves and 57 seconds to lock up and end young Mr. Houston's evening. Gotch commented to Whalen as he passed the announce desk "That's why these cowardly Canucks didn't invite me to their little tournament, eh?" 4. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) Wladek Zbyszko def Gene Kiniski with a 3rd Armbar. An absolute donnybrook of mixed styles and intense wrestling. Both men were not afraid to mix it up and with a combined token count of 13 (8 for Kiniski and 5 for Zbyszko) these 2 men stole the show. The fans were on their feet and looking almost as tired and haggard as the competitors in the ring by the end of this one. Going almost the entire 30 minute time limit (time of fall 29:41), the crowd treated the gladiators to a standing ovation afterwards, as the 2 men shook hands. 5. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) King Kong Bundy received a bye when Bad News Allen cold not be located for the match. Sir Oliver Humperdink was on hand to celebrate with the walking condominium on his "amazing performance" in the first round. 6. The Mountie (w/ Sir Oliver Humoerdink) def Les Thatcher by C.O. after Thatcher chased Humperdink to the back. Thatcher warned Humperdink repeatedly to stay off the apron and finally had enough and chased the rotund one back to the dressing room, never returning as the referee counted 20. Ed Whalen returns to wish everyone a safe week... and as the cameras go off the air, a quick glimpse of Thatcher laid out on the dressing room floor pops up...

The Canadian Wrestling Alliance Presents:
AROUND THE HORN Ed Whalen is at ringside with a number of 'important announcements and updates'. Les Thatcher will be sidelined for at least 3 weeks and the search for his attacker or attackers is currently ongoing. Stu Hart will be out indefinitely as we await the results of several tests and Randy Savage is suspended indefinitely as we await the final decision of the Stampede Parliament. This weeks main event will be the Poffos against the Wright Brothers, and the Provincial Championship Tournament will continue with the final 4 first round matches. Whalen is in the middle of reminding people of the upcoming Stampede Rodeo when Angelo Poffo storms to ringside and begins screaming a tirade of insults (1/2 of which are censored out for TV) at Whalen and the "Damn-pede Parliament" for their decision to suspend Savage and warns of consequences yet to come!!! He is stopped in his tracks by an angry Bad News Allen who tells Angelo to tell his "bastard son" that when his suspension is lifted, his career will be ended. Security defuses a tense situation and we go to the ring. 1. The Masked Menace (w/ Oliver Humperdink) def The RPM's with an illegal Spike Piledriver by the masked duo on Davis when Lane was being put out of the ring by the referee. Another relatively close match that Sir Ollie was the difference maker in as the Menace seems to have some difficulty overcoming the speed and quickness of smaller opponents. The RPM's had just hit a second beautiful double dropkick when the referee was distracted by Humperdink, missing the pin attempt by Davis. Davis and Lane both began to argue with the referee, who put Lane out of the ring and was chastising him when the illegal switch and piledriver left Davis down for the 1-2-3. 2. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) Larry Zbyszko def Super Crazy with a Piledriver. A surprisingly close match as Crazy seemed to be able to vary up his offense just enough to keep Larry a bit confused. Unfortunately for the Crazy one, Larry did NOT forget how to remove turnbuckle pad and a late match missed turnbuckle charge by Super Crazy led to a one way trip to Larry Land. 3. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) George Hackenschmidt def Val Venis by DQ. Hack's wrestling acumen and expertise were a bit more than Mr. Venis bargained for and he eventually lost his temper and threw Hack over the top-rope immediately garnering the DQ. The Russian Lion was visibly upset at Venis' tactics and had to be talked down by the referee from going after Val. 4. Frank Gotch def David Taylor with the Toe Hold. Another rather easy win for Mr. Gotch as he seemed to toy with Taylor for several minutes, allowing him a few brief flurries just to wrest control away again. After about 5 minutes, Gotch seemed to grow bored and quickly ended it. 5. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) William Muldoon def Fit Finlay with a second double shoulder lock. The 2 tough men stood toe-to-toe for nearly 10 minutes in a classic 'brawler v wrestler' match-up before the superior conditioning of Muldoon allowed him to take and keep control. The 2 men shook hands afterwards. 6. (Round 1, Provincial Championship) Adrian Street (w/ Miss Linda) def The Mountie (w/ Oliver Humperdink) by DQ. The Mountie's Cattle Prod cost him this one as the referee caught him trying to use it and instantly called for the DQ. While the Mountie and the Dink argued and postured, Street grabbed the prod and shocked them both! 7. The Wright Brothers def the Poffos by DQ. The Poffos were on the ropes for a big chunk of this match until a masked man came running down to ringside and tripped Orville Wright. This garnered the DQ and the Poffos and the masked man were looking to cause some harm until Bad News Allen came tearing down with a chair bellowing about the masked man being Savage and chased them off. Wilbur Wright demanded a 6-man tag team match for next week with no-DQ. Ed Whalen returns to ringside to wish everyone a safe week.

The Canadian Wrestling Alliance Presents:
PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURES Ed Whalen is on hand to greet the crowd and update several situations. Les Thatcher is expected back in just over 3 weeks and early prognosis is still sketchy for Stu Hart. There is a commotion in the crowd as Bad News Allen makes his way to ringside. Whalen informs him (and the crowd) that the governing body of Stampede is not willing to lift the suspension of Savage at this time. Allen takes the "bad news' surprisingly well, and walks away muttering "well, I guess it's Plan B". The second round of the Provincial Championship will be decided here tonight as well as a couple of great tag team matches, and for the opener, we go to the ring... 1. Hillbilly Jim def Frank Gotch by reverse decision. Frank Gotch destroys Hillbilly Jim with a Gotch Toehold, and then refuses to let go despite the warnings of the referee and the screaming of Jim. The referee is forced to reverse the decision and to call for help from the back. After several tense minutes, Gotch releases, stares down the security and wrestlers who came down to help and stops by Whalens desk on the way out, claiming this will continue to happen until his talent is recognized and his opponents reflect that! It is announced that due to Savage's attack on Stu Hart after he won the match leaving Stu unable to move forward in the tournament, Whipper Watson has received a bye. Also announced is that Hillbilly Jim has been taken to the hospital to have his leg checked. 2. (Round 2, Provincial Championship) King Kong Bundy gained a win over Wladek Zbyszko via the Big Splash. Wladek had controlled a good portion of the match, even slamming the behemoth not once, but twice. Sir Oliver Humperdink finally got under Wladek's skin and found himself grabbed up off the apron, allowing Bundy to hit from behind with a wicked double sledge, followed by an Avalanche and Big Splash. A portion of the ringside fans accused Humperdink of holding Zbyszko's leg as well. 3. (Round 2, Provincial Championship) George Hackenschmidt def Larry Zbyszko with the Russian Bearhug. Larry just didn't seem to have an answer for the power or technical assault of the Russian Lion and quickly found himself on the defensive. Trying to take it to the floor was the only small bites of offense he could offer, and on the 3rd trip to the floor, Hackenschmidt showed that he could mix it up when he needed and Larry found himself back in the ring a bit worse for the wear. Hack locked in the Bearhug and Larry finally had to submit. 4. (Round 2, Provincial Championship) William Muldoon made quick work of Adrian Street with a pair of wicked suplexes followed by his Body Lock and Throw. Even Miss Linda's attempts at distraction and interference couldn't shake the Solid Man. 5. The RPM's v Janetty/Powers was ruled a No Contest after 2 men dressed in beads and psychedelic outfits stormed the ring with chairs and laid out all 4 combatants with chairs and quickly escaped back out through the crowd. 6. The Wright Brothers def the Poffos after a huge ruckus outside the ring involving the masked corner man for the Poffos and Bad News Allen. The Wrights had held their own against the father/son tandem, but the arrival of their masked friend (and the interference he brought with him) had Wilbur in a bad way. Finally, out of the back, swinging a hockey stick like a madman, Bad News came barreling down to ringside and chased the Masked Man back to the dressing room, but not before cracking Lanny in the head (somehow without the referee seeing). Orville held daddy at bay, whilst Wilbur landed a quick body press for the 1-2-3. Ed Whalen returns to ringside to wish the fans a safe week, and to announce that Hillbilly Jim will be sidelined for at least a month with damage to his lateral collateral ligament.

The Canadian Wrestling Alliance Presents:
BATTLEGROUND: CALGARY Ed Whalen makes his way to ringside to greet the crowd and hand out some updates on current situations. Hillbilly Jim is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks, thanks to the heinous actions of Frank Gotch... at which point, an overall wearing, barefoot man came up to Whalen, introducing himself as Cousin Luke, Jim's cousin, and he would be here to get ahold of "that son of a muskrat, Fred Gotch!". At this point, Gotch comes down and security rushes in before anything can get physical. Whalen tells the fans that there is no room on tonight's card, but he will talk to the booking committee about getting it on next weeks show. He also announces that Les Thatcher will return in 2 weeks and has requested a match with the Mountie, who he claims was responsible for the attack that laid him up. Stu Hart's prognosis is still sketchy but with luck and rehab, he may be back as early as 2-3 months. Randy Savage will not be considered for reinstatement until Hart is cleared at 100%. The semi-finals of the CWA Provincial Championships will take place here tonight, as well as the debut of the Love Brothers, Reginald and Hartford, who will battle the RPM's. Jim Powers comes down to ringside and states that "his partner" has seemingly disappeared and he will be looking to find a new partner as he wants revenge on the Love Brothers for what they did. Whalen looks a bit confused for a moment and wishes Jim good luck in replacing "his partner". 1. The Mountie (w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink) def Sam Houston following a Short Choke Slam. A competitive match that saw Sir Oliver distract Sam Houston as he mounted to top rope, allowing the Mountie to shake the ropes, causing poor Sam to split the difference on the top turnbuckle. The Mountie suplexed his hurt foe to the mat and hit the Choke Slam for the win. 2. Frank Gotch def Val Venus with the Gotch Toehold. Another fairly one-sided Gotch match up as he wore down Val and locked him up for the win. Gotch was looking to refuse to release the hold til Cousin Luke came down and ran him off with a bullrope and cowbell to the cheers of the fans. 3. The Love Brothers def the RPM's with a Spike Piledriver. A great, hotly contested match that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. The end came following a 4 man brawl in the ring. While the referee was getting Mike Davis out of the ring, the Love's hit Tommy Lane with the Spike for the win. 4. (Semi-final, Provincial Championship) Whipper Watson def King Kong Bundy by dq after Humperdink is caught tripping Watson as he is coming off the ropes. Watson, not content with the way he won, slams Humperdink into Bundy and dropkicks both men out of the ring. Humperdink take Bundy out of returning to the ring. 5. (Semi-final, Provincial Championship) William Muldoon def George Hackenschmidt with a Body Lock and Throw in the closing seconds of a 2nd 5 minute overtime. These 2 legends came at each other full on from the opening bell, with neither man able to hold a sustained offense. 9 Pin Tokens later, the 30 minute time limit expired. It was announced that in the semi finals, no draw was possible so there would be an overtime period of 5 minutes and further periods if necessary. I took almost 2 full overtimes, but Muldoon was able to capitalize on a missed turnbuckle charge for the win. The 2 men shook hands afterwards. 6. Bad News Allan def Angelo Poffo with the Ghetto Blaster. A protesting and completely out matched Angelo was lead down to the ring by security, who also led Lanny back up the ramp. Allan basically played with Poffo for several minutes, pulling him up from 3 pin attempts. Finally Allan seemed to get tired of playing and landed 2 back to back Ghetto Blasters before taking the pin. Ed Whalen returns to ringside to wish the fans a safe week and to announce that Frank Gotch has stated he cannot wrestle Cousin Luke next week as he has a "previous commitment" for another match. He also announces Cousin Luke WILL make his debut next week and is still seeking a match with "Fred" Gotch.
